Dental Implants
Here are Parkway Dental we believe that all our patients should feel 100% happy with their smiles. Whether you are missing teeth or would like them to be more aligned, our dentist will do their best to help plan your treatment and fix whatever is bothering you.
If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants are one of the most popular treatments for teeth replacement. Implants are metal screws that are inserted or drilled into your jawbone, which will later hold the artificial teeth in place. Although it is a lengthy procedure, implants is the ideal solution if you are missing a few or all your teeth and dentures aren’t an option for you. Compared to dentures, implants will hold your artificial teeth in place and won’t shift; dentures are held by glue but can sometimes fall off or slide in your mouth. Because the implant is fused into your jaw, a separate treatment will be the first stage of this procedure.
However, not everyone can get dental implants; ideal candidates will have healthy gums and a strong jaw bone structure to be able to hold the implant. If the dentist deems that implants are the right solution for you, but your jaw bone is not strong enough, a separate treatment to strengthen the bone will take place before the implants.
There are two types of implants Endosteal and Subperiosteal. Endosteal are the most commonly used by dentists and they include screws, blades or cylinders drilled into the jawbone so each can hold a prosthetic tooth. Subperiosteal implants, however, are placed on top of the jaw that holds a metal frame holding the posts through the gum to hold the prosthetic teeth. Your doctor will examine you and recommend which type of implant you will benefit from if you are interested in this treatment.
After your treatment, you will be regularly checked by your dentist and periodontist to monitor your progress and make sure everything is healing and working properly. We always recommend regular at home oral care and dental visits to make sure your treatment is successful and there aren’t any complications.
