General Dentistry
General Dentistry focuses primarily on preventing dental diseases from happening. Your general dentist will make sure that any dental diseases are avoided or detected early by regularly doing checkups and cleanings and making sure that your gums, teeth, and mouth are always healthy.
By regularly visiting your general dentist you will ensure that there is no plaque buildup, gum disease and that your teeth are strong. Digital X-rays will allow your dentist to device a treatment plan and also see the current health of your mouth and teeth structure. If dental treatment is recommended, you will then be referred to the right dental specialist for cosmetic, orthodontic or restorative treatment. Some of these treatments include fillings, teeth alignment, dental crowns or bridges, for example. Your general dentist, if deemed necessary, will refer you to an oral surgeon if he thinks that you need more invasive and advanced procedures such as root canals or implants.
It is very important to visit your general dentist at least twice a year for checkups or cleanings and make your dental health a priority to avoid future problems.
